"I'm Already Gone" - MeetYourBeat.com

MeetYourBeat.com stopped by Chris's home just last weekend, to shoot a live session in his living quarters. The same place where the songs on his new album, Scatter the Ashes, where written. Here is "I'm Already Gone" from that session.

The Plough And Stars - 10/15

Chris Warren will be playing songs from his new record, Scatter the Ashes at The Plough And Stars in Cambridge, MA on Saturday October 15th. Doors are at 10pm, with a $5 cover. Chris will be backed by none other than Dom and Dan from Viva Viva and Spencer Gralla from Doomstar! And as a special treat, opening up will be our good friend Tom Novotny (formerly of Mittens) with his new band Shelterbelt.

If you haven't heard Chris's new album, you can listen to it streaming online on his bandcamp page. You should also read this great review from Oimos Music, where they say "Scatter The Ashes takes us through the insecurities and ambitions we have growing up, losing and missing a loved one, everyday troubles and then some. Death is a central theme but it is neither romanticized nor bemoaned. Instead, for the most part, Warren takes a more dry, matter-of-fact stand which makes the subject matter tolerable, easy to relate and in a sense comforting."

Scatter the Ashes

In his latest solo release, Viva Viva guitarist/singer, Chris Warren, encourages you to find the sunshine that hides in the shade. Scatter the Ashes is a collection of songs about life and loss; hanging on to the romance of it all, even when it breaks your heart; the bittersweet pain of youth and all the awesome possibilities of what's to come. Love the people you are with and say good bye to the people you have loved. We only get one go around but we're all in this together from the cradle to the grave.

The tracks were recorded in the small town of Enfield, NH, in October, 2010, with longtime friend Kevin Micka of Animal Hospital, while sitting in Chris' Mom's living room. All while the birds and the bees buzzed out side, and two dogs chased each other around the house. Finishing touches were done sporadically over the months that followed at the Berwick Research Institute in Dudley Square, Roxbury MA with help from Viva Viva's Dan Burke on bass and Fumika Yamazaki-Burdett on piano and organ. Additional vocals by the lovely Kristen Daley. Our good friend Julian Cassanetti added some additional guitar and a little organ as well. Jonah Sacks added some beautiful cello. Kevin Micka played drums. The record was mastered by Scott Craggs at Old Colony Mastering in Boston, MA.

Scatter the Ashes is available to download and stream at Bandcamp. For $10, you can have the 10-track album, in all it's digital glory.
